TerraCottem BV is licenced to carry the Australian Smart Drop Certified logo, previously known as Smart Approved WaterMark.

Around 2010, the TerraCottem soil conditioning technology has been Smart Drop Certified (previously the Smart Approved Watermark Scheme) for a direct connection between the use of its soil conditioners and water savings.

Both TerraCottem Universal, TerraCottem Turf & TerraCottem Arbor are certified water efficient products.

Water-saving

Water conservation is a hot topic and of major concern. It involves all the policies, strategies and activities to sustainably manage amongst others the natural resource of fresh water. It affects policy makers, the industry and individuals. Saving water starts with the smallest of gestures such as the rational use of water in the bathroom, laundry room and kitchen or when maintaining the garden. The TerraCottem company, manufacturer of the TerraCottem soil conditioners, was a pioneer in 1993 by addressing this issue when it was only of concern in certain regions of the globe. The TerraCottem soil conditioners help save substantial amounts of water in gardens and parks by reducing both the frequency and volume of water required to maintain healthy plant growth. How? Very simple: by mixing a small quantity of TerraCottem with the soil when planting. And how does TerraCottem actually help save water? On the one hand the growth precursors, TerraCottem’s trade secret, present in the soil conditioners, enhance root growth helping plants to establish faster, to develop a bigger root system, thus to find residual water faster. On the other hand, TerraCottem’s crosslinked hydroabsorbant polymers absorb and store water at root level that is normally lost to evaporation and leaching, optimising water resources and reducing the volume and frequency of necessary irrigation up to 50%. The stored water is kept at the disposal of the plant that accesses the water on demand through its root hairs, keeping the water in the root zone for a longer period of time.
